Chocolate and engineering - a tasty mix
Something we are tempted by every time we pass a sweet shop ! What type of engineers work in chocolate production?
Lets start by mixing the ingredients- How do you make the perfect chocolate bar?
A chemical engineer will know ! they are involved in many stages of the production of chocolate. They will make sure that the ingredients are mixed at correct temperatures and in the correct combinations. A Biochemical engineer will also be on hand to make sure the process is hygienically clean and that there are no nasty ingredients or bacteria added in the production of chocolate
Environmental engineers are there to make sure that the factory making the chocolate is not polluting and is not wasting energy or water.
The bars need to look good in the shops too. Most chocolates are wrapped by high speed machines which are designed, upgraded and maintained by engineers.
