Volunteers

Volunteer benefits

We need volunteer engineers, supported by Engineers Ireland's STEPS team, to go out and visit local primary and second-level schools. A small investment of your time could yield long-term results for Ireland's economy and the engineering profession, as well as immediate benefits for you and your organisation.

Why volunteer?

  • Support and inspire young people in your local area.

  • Develop key communication skills.

  • Gain CPD credits.

  • Grow awareness of engineering as a profession within your community.

  • Enjoy engaging and interacting with the next generation.

Why should organisations support volunteers?

  • Support the long-term sustainability of your organisation and the engineering profession.

  • Provide a structured framework for employees to inspire the next generation of engineers.

  • Support the development of employee skills.

  • Enhance your company's reputation, locally and nationally.

If your company is interested in volunteering, please contact us to arrange an information session.

Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

The time spent by volunteers involved with any STEPS event is considered to be part of their continuous professional development. A volunteer will be able to claim up to 2 days CPD per annum (the equivalent of 4 presentations) for visiting schools or taking part in other events as a STEPS volunteer.

Quality Volunteering

To publicly demonstrate our commitment to volunteering, STEPS has signed up to work towards and be assessed against a quality standard called Investing in Volunteers.
