Register your interest now for Women in Engineering career events

18th August 2014

Are you a guidance counsellor or teacher in a girls' or mixed school? Would you like to find out more about engineering? Engineers Ireland's STEPS programme is running a series of career events in coming months on the topic of women in engineering.

Aimed at second-level female students and their guidance counsellors and teachers, the events will showcase women engineers at all stages of their careers, from third-level student through to CEO, and highlight the vital and varied work that engineers do. Engineers take ideas and turn them into reality, using science, maths and imagination. Right now, engineers are working on exciting projects such as solar energy, synthetic organs, driverless cars and virtual reality headsets.

There will be opportunities  for students and teachers to interact with the engineers and ask direct questions, as well as hear their career stories and personal journeys. Topics for discussion will include what subjects are needed to study engineering, what college life is like for engineering students, the kind of jobs that engineers can apply for, and details of the various engineering disciplines.

Register your interest in learning more about these events by emailing steps@engineersireland.ie with the subject line 'Women in Engineering'.
