We require that all Volunteer Engineers attend a STEPS training session

All Volunteer Engineers must attend a STEPS training session each year to volunteer with STEPS. This is so you can hear the latest information on the programme and comply with our Child Safe-guarding policy.

You can attend training with no obligation - you can choose to opt in or opt out of volunteering at any point.

Once you have completed training (or before, if you prefer) fill out our
STEPS Volunteer Engineer online Application Form.

To Volunteer with the STEPS Volunteer Programme you must be:

  • A qualified engineer, studying engineering at third level, or currently employed in an engineering role
  • 18 years or older
  • Willing to attend a 2 hour STEPS training session in October
  • Available to visit a school on the week of 25th - 30th November

You have completed training - what happens now?

After completing training, if you decide you would like to volunteer with STEPS Volunteer Programme you must complete an online application form

Once your application has been accepted, STEPS will send you an email in October inviting you to choose two preferred schools from the list of particiapating classes.

Every effort will be made to offer you a visit at one of your selected schools - but as you can imagine this cannot be guaranteed.

Once your school has been confirmed, STEPS will introduce you to the teacher.

You can then arrange a suitable visit time with the teacher on the week of 25th - 29th November.
