What is the STEPS Company Partner Programme?

STEPS offers companies, or groups of engineer colleagues, great opportunities to give back to their community and to undertake meaningful and impactful volunteer work.

Engineering organisations who are interested in reaching out to their community and providing Engineer Role Models to visit local primary schools can sign up to become a STEPS Company Partner. The visits take place during the last week in November.

STEPS provides in-house training for the Volunteer Engineers, as well as resources and structured school visit plans, to ensure the best quality volunteer work is carried out.

As a STEPS Company Partner your Volunteer Engineers will be covered by our Child Protection Policy.
STEPS is the only volunteer engineering body in Ireland to have been awarded the Investing in Volunteers standard.

How STEPS supports YOU

Training

Each STEPS Volunteer is trained by STEPS. We can visit your company to give in-house training or can provide training in Engineers Ireland.

At the training engineers will be taken through how to deliver a STEPS structured school visit, as well as communication tips and, importantly, our child protection policies.

Each Volunteer Engineer will be given a Volunteer Pack, including materials for the engineering activity to complete with the class and STEPS merchandise.

School Selection

The Company STEPS Leader will lisise with STEPS to choose and allocate school visits. Volunteers typically do one visit each, but are very welcome to do more! Visits can be done solo, in pairs or in groups - whatever your engineers prefer.

School Visit

School visits take place the week of 25th – 29th November.

The visit will take approx. 1.5 – 2hrs. The structure of the visit will be covered in the training. STEPS provides...
